A fine cast bronze statue depicting a seated cat with its forepaws together, its tail curving forward around its right side, with the tip extending beyond the paws, the small head with an angular jawline.

Late Period to Ptolemaic Period, c. 664-30 B.C.
Provenance: private collection (BE), collected by the ancestors in the early 1930s.

Dimensions: height (with stand) 12 cm; height (of the statue) 8 cm; length 5 cm
Very good condition with a beautiful dark green patina with traces of cuprite.

References: a nearly identical cat statue was sold at Christie's New York - antiquities sales - 8 June 2012 - lot 20 for USD 13.750.

Mounted on a wooden base.
