About:
Often described as an urban street artist, Shepard Fairey cultivated an interest in Graffiti Art while attending the Rhode Island School of Design and took his "Obey" stencils to the streets. His name first appeared in the news for wheat pasting. Since then, Fairey has acquired a place in history for designing Barack Obama's 2008 Presidential campaign 'Hope', 'Vote' and 'Progress' posters.
Imperial Glory is an excellent example of Fairey's iconic style which combines elements of the graffiti aesthetic with characteristics of Pop art. This print is a comment on the U.S. military industrial complex, calling upon the government to spend less on the extravagance of war and to focus more on improvement within the country.
